White Paper on MSV - Get involved! PDF | Print | E-mail

The MSV project ( is going to, by international cooperation between the European @neurIST and VPHOP integrated projects, the US National Alliance for Medical Imaging Computing (NA-MIC), and the New Zealand-based IUPS Physiome initiative:

 - define an interactive visualisation paradigm for biomedical multiscale data,

 - validate it on the large data collections produced by the VPH projects, and

 - develop a concrete implementation as an open-source extension to the Visualisation Toolkit (VTK), ready to be incorporated by virtually any biomedical modelling software project.

This global objective will be pursued in four steps, one of which is the definition of a shared vision on the MSV problem. The consortium partners formalised a first draft of the shared vision into a white paper on biomedical data multiscale visualisation which captures the state-of-the-art, summarises the first exemplary problem assessment results, and defines the challenges that will be faced in the next development phase.

The White Paper is publicly available here and will be a living document until the end of 2012.  During this period the consortium partners will update it according to the project results but also comments and suggestions from external stakeholders will be taken into consideration. In this context they invite anyone with a project or research activity with MSV components or with suggestions on challenges or solutions regarding MSV, to read the white paper document and get in contact with them.  Any form of contribution is welcome, but it would be particularly helpful if you could post your comments to the available This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
