The BBC has short-listed Alison MacLeod's story "The Heart of Denis Noble" for its National Short Story Award, and the reading of the story by Tim Pigott-Smith will be broadcast at 3-30 pm (UK time) on BBC 4 on Tuesday the 13th September. Please visit the bbc i player to listen to the story.

 The original story has just appeared in "Litmus: short stories from  modern science", published by Comma Press and was largely based on the  Nature papers of 1960. Alison MacLeod is an award-winning novelist. Tim Pigott-Smith is a  film and television actor."
