The Workshop on Biomechanics experiments with human subjects will be held in Hannover, Germany, September 14, 2010. This Workshop has been scheduled on the day before the IRCOBI Conference on behalf of the Integrated Safety Network (ISN) and the COVER Coordination and Support Action.
Any topic related to trauma biomechanics and prevention is welcome. Suggested areas of interest include restraint systems induced trauma, constitutive responses of biological tissue, inner organs behaviours, human response and tolerance to impact, pre-crash behaviour and children biomechanics and injury. Areas of interest for the workshop include vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians, cyclists, human behaviour in the precrash phase and also adaptive restraint systems.
Open participation is strongly encouraged to facilitate information exchange and to help solve problems associated with human testing in impact biomechanics.
A half day session of the workshop will be dedicated to present and discuss results of two EU FP7 projects THORAX and THOMO. Both are dealing with thoracic injuries. Results on accident investigations, PMHS testing and Human Body modelling collected during the first two years of these projects will be presented by participants.
If you wish to make a presentation, please submit a Title and Abstract (one A4 page) to Philippe Vezin
Abstracts may be submitted via e-mail. Full papers will be due at the Workshop and included in the proceedings.
Registration : see IRCOBI registration form
Participation fee : 100 euros (free for ISN members up to 2 people per organization)

COVER is a Coordination and Support Action running under the 7th Framework. It brings together four
projects in the field of Biomechanics for vehicle occupant safety namely THORAX, THOMO, CASPER and
EPOCh. The former two are dealing with thoracic injuries, developing test and simulation tools related to this
body region. The latter two deal with child safety.
