Networking the VPH Initiative
A VPH Concertation Meeting, to which all VPH-related projects funded from within EU DG-INFSO were invited, took place on October 22 as part of ICTBIO 2008. Organised jointly by the VPH NoE and EC, the VPH Concertation Meeting sought to:- Facilitate the networking between projects and experts working in related VPH research areas
- Provide better visibility for project activities
- Identify synergies and common area of interests that could be tackled collectively by groups of projects
A key aspect of the VPH Concertation meeting were three focused workshops, the topics for which were chosen in response to consultation with VPH-I project representatives through surveying.
The goal for these workshops was to not only provide a forum for discussion of issues of cross-cutting interest to VPH-I and VPH-related projects, but also to identify ways in which VPH researchers can work collectively in the future to address challenges of common concern.
Workshop outcomes, to be lead by the VPH NoE, included:
- Preparation of dissemination material on the VPH-I, targeting the clinical community
- Establishment of a VPH Standards Working Group
- Organisation of a pilot Industrial Concertation Event, for VPH research
- Establishment of a VPH Data Working Group
- Preparation of a White Paper on Sharing and Reuse of Clinical Data
- Establishment of a VPH-I Working Group
- Publication of a VPH-I newsletter
The VPH Initiative Forum
An important part of ensuring that the outcomes of the VPH Concertation Meeting are productive is the continuation of networking and communication between VPH-I projects and the wider VPH research community. To support this, the VPH Initiaitive forum has been created. Please feel free to contribute to these - whether you are a core VPH NoE member or newcomer to the VPH Initiative, in order that we may identify and begin to collectively address the most important questions and issues facing VPH projects and researchers today.
