VPH-FET Support Action
The VPH-FET project is a Support Action designed to identify Future & Emerging Technologies (FET) that can support VPH into the future and to establish VPH as a viable and acknowledged area for “blue sky” research within the EC Framework Programme. Thus, if it achieves its aims, VPH-FET will create a dedicated funding stream for VPH within the Future and Emerging Technologies Programme in FP7 and open up considerable opportunities for the expansion and diversification of VPH research.
There are two main aspects to the activities in VPH-FET:
1. The VPH-FET conference, to be held in June 2011, will define the contents of the Roadmap that VPH-FET will deliver in September 2011.
2. A set of Internet-based discussions will seek to define the agenda for the conference by identifying the areas that warrant further urgent development within VPH.
YOU can help to shape the future of VPH by joining in the discussions and attending the conference. The insights gained will certainly help to shape your future VPH research proposals.
Join the Public Forum of the VPH-FET Support Action
Biomed Town is hosting the activities of the Support Action VPH-FET, which aims to develop through a consensus process among experts and stakeholders, a research roadmap on the Future and Emerging Technologies that is necessary to develop in order to make the vision of the Virtual Physiological Human capable of reaching its full potential.
The VPH-FET discussions have started in a small scale, but are now going public as a result of this email. They will continue until June, and new topics will continue to be added throughout the discussion period - see the schedule
You are invited to join them in order to shape the agenda of the VPH-FET Conference and influence the content of the VPH-FET Roadmap (to be submitted in September 2011)
The discussions are hosted by Biomed Town (it provides facilities that allow projects to operate discussions with low overheads) so to join in, you should first become a member of Biomed Town - it’s free and straightforward. Go to Biomed Town and apply to become a full citizen; use your professional email address as a verification of your status.

VPH-FET Conference
The VPH-FET conference will take place in London on 27 June 2011. Registration is free and will open on 15 March.
Run by the same coordinators as in the STEP project, the conference will seek to identify the technologies that will help to steer the future directions of VPH. If you want a glimpse of the future for VPH, you will want to be there. To view the conference flyer please click here
The agenda for the conference will evolve from the Internet-based discussions taking place at the moment. If you want to influence the agenda, join in the discussions.
To be further informed about the conference and the VPH-FET project, contact Zainab Kazmi and ask to be put on the VPH-FET mailing list. Mailing list members will be kept up to date with developments in the project and will be reminded when registration is about to open - numbers will be limited by the physical size of the conference hall, and registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
