Workshop on The Mathematics of Multiscale Modelling PDF | Print | E-mail

As part of VPH2012, we will be holding a workshop upon the topic of The Mathematics of Multiscale Modelling, with specific application to modelling of the human physiome. Workshop themes will include, but will not be strictly limited to:

- fundamental mathematical techniques in multiscale modelling for the Virtual Physiological Human;
- homogenisation across multiple spatial scales;
- asymptotic analysis and its application to multiple timescale problems;
- hybrid (stochastic/determinstic, discrete/continuous) models across multiple spatio-temporal scales.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite interested researchers of both mathematical and non-mathematical disciplines to attend this event. Registration for the VPH2012 conference will soon be open online at http://www.vph-noe.eu/vph2012. Note that the registration fee for VPH2012 will be € 450 (students €300). We regret that we are unlikely to be able to provide financial support.

Furthermore, we would like to invite expressions of interest from authors who would like to contribute to this workshop. Interested parties are asked to prepare a short abstract for their talk, following the guidelines given at http://www.vph-noe.eu/vph2012. Instructions for abstract submission are also available at the above location.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 29th February 2012; authors of selected talks will be notified by 31st May 2012. Leading VPH2012 talks will be invited for an opportunity (following a peer review process) to  write full papers to appear in a special issue of Interface Focus following the conference. Any queries regarding the format of this workshop or the associated submission procedure can be directed to Martin Nelson in the first instance.
