DMC2011 - Workshop on Distributed Multiscale Computing 2011
DMC2011 - Workshop on Distributed Multiscale Computing 2011
=================================================
IMPORTANT: submission deadline extended to Aug 1, 2011
=================================================
Paper submission is now available to the First workshop on DISTRIBUTED MULTISCALE COMPUTING (DMC) which will take place on December 5th 2011 in Stockholm as part of the e-Science IEEE conference.
This workshop provides a forum for multiscale modelers, framework developers and experts from the distributed infrastructure communities to identify and discuss challenges in and solutions for modeling multiscale systems, as well as their execution on distributed e-infrastructures. With single scale models being well-tested and mature field in many areas, multiscale modeling is now one of the greatest challenges in science today. We aim to bring together modelers of multiscale problems, developers of multiscale applications and frameworks, as well as experts from infrastructure (HPC, Grid and Cloud) communities. The DMC workshop will provide the opportunity to present and discuss the latest advances in distributed multiscale computing and to discuss the establishment of dsitributed multiscale computing standards based on the concepts and techniques presented in the workshop.

DataFlow project: storing and sharing large datasets on the cloud
The DataFlow project is building tools for research groups to share data internally, and to store and search high-quality data in long-term repositories. The final product will be freely available, fully documented and open-source.
One thing we need is “user stories” to check that what we’re building has the functionality that researchers (and sysadmin types) want. Please tell us how you might like to use a tool like this! We also need some users to test-drive the system, which will be ready for use this summer. Visit us at www.dataflow.ox.ac.uk, and be sure to check into our “suggestion box” at the top of the page.
